Planned Development for Saint Gregory of Sinai Monastery
Saint Gregory of Sinai Monastery occupies a narrow hillside site. They asked Andrew Gould of New World Byzantine to design a master-plan for future improvements to their land, including a new monastery building and church. Mr. Gould felt that the rugged terrain needed to be organized into terraces and gardens. The complex is entered at the high end and the church is placed lower where it will be seen framing beautiful views across the valley. This site plan and the style of the buildings will be reminiscent of the ancient monasteries of Mount Athos.
